Post Please read--Birds need saving!
Hi everyone, Sorry this is so long, but please read!

I was in Mililani Pets yesterday and I can't believe they are allowed to operate under those conditions. We first saw a sweet little amazon...she was shivering in a cage with no toys, very little food, begging for attention. In the cage next to her was another parrot, I couldn't even tell what kind it was because it was curled up in a ball at the bottom of the cage and didn't respond at all. Both were sitting right under an air conditioning vent. Worst of all though, they have a Blue and Gold Macaw...I can't even describe to you guys how bad of shape he was in. His feathers were all tangled and ragged looking, he was so thin! I would bet he never sees any sunlight, there was not a fruit or vegetable for any of these poor things. I don't how he's surviving, honestly. I thought he was a baby, but he's 7 years old. I asked the salesperson how much they are charging for each bird and to each one he said they are not for sale. They live there, in that dirty, dark little shop. After fussing at him, I left in tears. It was so hard to leave them there, condemned to that pitiful life!

Surely there's something we can do. Do any of you have the funds to make this man an offer he can't refuse? Do you know anyone who does? Can we have a fundraiser? Are there any businesses in town who would be willing to donate? I will do anything to save these birds. I would be more than happy to nurse them back to health and pay the medical costs. They can be rehomed to good bird families when they are well.
I encourage you to visit the shop and see for yourself. Mililani Pets 95-221 Kipapa Drive. It's not only the larger birds who are suffering. They have a whole backroom full of birds in dirty cages. It's a mess!

I know we all belong to this association because we love anything with feathers. These birds need our help and we can't sit by and let them suffer like this. Please, please help.
My number is 561-2045 and my name is Becki. Call me and maybe we can come up with something or maybe convene a special meeting of the club. My house is available, I'd be happy to have all of you come here.

Thanks for reading this!

Becki,
I don't have the funds to make an offer for them but if there is anything else I can do I would be glad to help. It breaks my heart to see birds in that condition. I'm going to try to get over there soon and see for myself, and most likely will report them to the authorities for neglect if it is that bad.

Thanks so much Sue! I can't believe the offers for help aren't pouring in....you're the first. I really hope you will go over to the store and let me know what you think.
